A Suji VM is an isolated Linux virtual server with its own operating system, root access and system disk. The underlying physical CPU hardware is shared. You can install marketplace apps or use the VM as a general-purpose server. VM usage is charged from your credit balance. Apps share the VM’s CPU, memory and storage; third-party APIs, paid licenses and other external services can have their own charges.

Before you start

  • Create and verify your Suji account.
  • Select your organization and project in the dashboard.
  • Add credit from Billing. VM creation also depends on your quota and regional capacity.
  • To connect over SSH, add your public SSH key in the project’s SSH key settings. Use the apply-to-all option for new instances, or attach the key to the VM after creation. Keep the private key on your computer.

Create the VM

1

Open New instance

Open Instances in your project, then click New instance.
2

Choose a name

Use up to 60 characters: letters, digits, spaces, dashes or underscores. This is the VM’s display name; apps have their own public addresses.
3

Choose a region and operating system

Pick from the regions and Linux images available in the form. Choose a region near your users. Moving an existing workload to another region requires a new VM and a migration.
4

Choose a size

Compare the CPU, memory, system disk and price shown for Small, Medium, Large and XL. Allow room for the operating system and all apps you plan to run. You can resize later, but the system disk cannot shrink.
5

Review and deploy

Review the price and configuration, then submit the form. Provisioning runs in the background. Follow its progress until the instance is ready; completion time depends on capacity, the image and initialization.

Connect and check

Open the instance page to find its public addresses in Network and its browser shell in Terminal. If you attached an SSH key, connect as root using that key:
The initial firewall allows SSH and Suji’s management connection. Exposed HTTP apps use a Suji HTTPS hostname; other public services may need their own port configuration and firewall rule. The VM reaching running does not verify every application’s readiness. After installing an app, open its address, complete its setup and check its logs.

VM status

Stopped VMs continue to accrue the same VM usage charge. Delete the VM to stop its compute meter. Retained snapshots and separate volumes can continue to incur storage charges.
